How to follow your team live at a tournament weekend

Update Oct 10, 2026: WAGS has cancelled all games on Sunday, Oct 11. Check the tournament home page for the latest.

A girls' soccer tournament weekend can mean several games across a weekend, at fields spread miles apart, and nobody in the family can make all of them. Here's how to plan so everyone, at the field or at home, knows what's happening.

We use the 2026 WAGS Rael Vodicka Memorial Tournament, hosted by Women and Girls in Soccer (WAGS), as our example. It runs October 10–12, 2026, in Loudoun, Fairfax and Stafford counties and the City of Fredericksburg, according to WAGS (as of Oct 10, 2026; dates: wagstournament.com; locations: WAGS press release, Oct 6, 2026, EIN Presswire, and the WAGS Fields page). The same advice works for any multi-day tournament.

PlayHub is not affiliated with WAGS or its organizers and is not the tournament's official scoring app.

Why tournament weekends are hard to follow

One parent is at the field. Another is at a sibling's game. The grandparents are out of state. Everyone wants the score, and the group chat fills up with "Did we score?" Official results pages are the final word, but they aren't a live feed.

Back-to-back games

Know the schedule before the first kickoff

Save every game time and field the night before, and check again in the morning. At WAGS, the earliest Saturday games are generally at 8:00 AM, and on Monday U16–U19 games can be scheduled to start as late as 2 PM (as of Oct 10, 2026; WAGS FAQs). U9–U15 were scheduled for Oct 10–11 and U16–U19 for Oct 10–12, and WAGS has cancelled all games on Sunday, Oct 11.

Check between games

One result can change where and when your team plays next. Look at the official schedule after every game. Don't trust Friday's screenshot.

Spread-out fields

Several complexes, one weekend

Check how many parks your tournament uses, and plan your driving. WAGS says its 2026 tournament uses 96 fields across 23 parks in Loudoun, Fairfax and Stafford counties and the City of Fredericksburg (WAGS press release, Oct 6, 2026, as of Oct 10, 2026; EIN Presswire). Fields are assigned by age group, so check the official Fields page for your team's park, addresses and parking notes. Allow travel time between sites. Check weather and field status on the morning of each game (WAGS home page; the field-status page linked from WAGS's Oct 9 weather update).

Splitting up as a family

Decide ahead of time who goes to which game. Agree on one place where scores get shared, so nobody answers the same text five times.

Following when you can't be there

Grandparents, siblings and the parent who's working

Family at home mostly want two things: the live score during the game and the final result. One shared source beats a dozen messages.

Keep it about the team

Share team-level updates. Don't post minors' names or photos publicly.

Livestreams, where they exist

Check your tournament's site for any livestream. For WAGS, WAGS livestreams showcase games for registered college coaches, according to its College Coaches page (as of Oct 10, 2026).

Where official schedules and results live

Check whether your tournament posts schedules, brackets and results on its registration platform. For WAGS 2026, that's the tournament's GotSport page, event 51083, which the WAGS Schedule & Scores page also links to (as of Oct 10, 2026). The official page is the final word on standings and brackets. Live updates from your own team's sideline are an extra, not a replacement.

Live scores from your own sideline with PlayHub

Someone on the sideline (the team manager or another adult the team adds) taps the score on their phone as the game happens. Families follow along live after an invite and sign-in, and families never pay. It covers your own team only, not the tournament. Ask your team manager about PlayHub.
