Running a team

Find out who is coming to a game or practice

Every game and every practice on your schedule has an RSVP line. Each family marks their player Going, Out or Maybe, and everybody running the team can see the count before the day, not at the field.

It all happens in the app. Nobody is sent a reminder to answer, so see nobody is reminded before you rely on it.

Answer for your player

For parents.

  1. Open your team. You start on Schedule and fixtures.
  2. Find the game or practice. Under it, next to RSVP, tap Going, Out or Maybe.
You should see your answer highlighted, and the count beside it change.

Change your mind as often as you like. The last answer is the one that counts.

Two children on the same team. The buttons under each game answer for one of them. For the other, tap the count, which opens Who is coming, find them (each of your children is marked My player) and tap their answer. The list closes after each answer, and the count and the list show the new answer only after you reload the team page.

See who is coming

Tap the count beside any game or practice, for example "9 Going".

Who is coming lists every player on the roster with their answer. The tabs along the top show only Going, only Out, only Maybe, or Pending, which is everybody who has not answered yet.

Pending is the useful one on a Thursday night. It is the list of families to ask.

Answer for somebody else

For the team owner, and for anybody the owner has given Manage team. A title such as Coach or Team manager does not count on its own. A parent tells you at practice that their daughter is away on Saturday, and does not want to open the app to say so.

  1. Tap the count beside the game.
  2. Find the player and tap Going, Out or Maybe next to their name.

The list closes after each answer. Open it again for the next player: the answers are saved, but the list and the count beside the game show them only after you reload the team page.

Who can answer, and who can see the answers

  • Answering for a player is limited to that player's own family, the people linked to them by an invite, the team owner, and anybody with Manage team. A title alone does not let anybody answer for other people's children. It is enforced on our servers, not only hidden on screen: a parent cannot mark somebody else's child, however they try. That includes family a parent invited only to watch, such as a grandparent: they can answer for that child and see that child's answer, though not anybody else's.
  • Seeing everybody's answers is for the parents and staff on the team. People on the team only to watch cannot read them, apart from the answer for the child they were invited to.

Every account belongs to an adult. Players do not have accounts, so a parent answers for their child.

Nobody is reminded

Answers are given in the app and read in the app. Nothing is sent:

  • no email or notification asking families to answer,
  • no reminder to the families who have not,
  • nothing to you when somebody answers or changes their answer.

So the routine that works is: post a message to the team asking families to answer for Saturday, then check Pending before you need the number. See message your team.

Practices too

Practices have the same RSVP as games. An answer is a plan made beforehand. Nobody records who actually turned up, so it is not an attendance register.

Switching it off

If your team already settles this in a group chat, being asked twice is worse than being asked once. The owner, or anybody with Manage team, can turn it off:

  1. Settings on the team screen.
  2. Under "What this team uses", switch off "Ask who is coming".

Off hides the RSVP line from everybody on the team. Switch it back on and the answers already given are still there.

Troubleshooting

I tapped Going and nothing changed. If you answered from the Who is coming list, reload the team page first: the list does not show a new answer until you do. If the answer is still missing, it was not saved, and the app does not say why. Try again in a moment.

I see the count but no Going, Out or Maybe buttons. You are not linked to a player on this team. If it is your child, open the family invite email and sign in with the address it was sent to, or ask whoever runs the team to invite you.

There is no RSVP line at all. It has been switched off for the team in Settings.

The count looks wrong. If you answered from the Who is coming list, reload the team page. If you are on the team only to watch, you see only the answer for the child you were invited to, so the count leaves out everybody else. If you should see everybody's, ask whoever runs the team to invite you to your child.

If this did not answer it, say so — a real person reads these and the article gets fixed.
