Running a team

Run a match

The sideline job. One person on one phone, usually in bright sun, usually with one hand.

Before kick-off

Open the match from your team screen and choose to run it. This is the controller — the screen only you see.

Everything on it is built for a phone held in one hand: large targets, a dark high-contrast layout that survives direct sunlight, and an undo on every action that changes the score.

You should see your squad, a clock at zero, and a kick-off control.

1. Kick off

Press to start the first half. The clock starts and the spectator page goes live at the same moment.

2. Record what happens

A goal for your team — press the scorer's number. If somebody assisted, add them; you can do it after the fact.

A goal against — record it on the opposition side. You do not need their player.

Other events — cards, substitutions and the rest are recorded the same way.

Everything can be undone. Every scoring action offers an undo for a few seconds afterwards, because the common mistake is the right event on the wrong player and it is always noticed immediately.

3. Use your voice if your hands are full

Hold the voice button and say what happened — *"goal, twenty-two"* — then let go. It fills in the event for you to confirm.

It is there for the moments when looking at a screen means missing the next passage of play. If it does not hear you, the buttons are still there; nothing depends on it.

4. Half time

Pause at half time and start the second half when you come back. The clock handles the break itself.

If the clock drifts from the referee's, adjust it. The referee's clock is the real one and yours should follow it, not the other way round.

5. Full time

End the match.

You should see the final score, and the match move out of your fixture list into your results.

6. The recap

A short written summary of the match is produced for you — the score, who scored, how it turned. Share it with the families or paste it wherever you already post.

7. The game video

If the game was filmed, put the link on it. On the team page, open Past, find the game, and press Add game video. Paste the link from Veo, YouTube, Hudl or Trace, and save.

Everybody on the team then sees Watch the game on that game, and on its match page. It opens the video on the platform it lives on, so whoever watches needs whatever access that platform asks for. A Veo match that is private to your club stays private.

Anybody who can run the tracker can add, change or remove the link. A game can have a video once it has kicked off, whether or not it was tracked in the app.

What families see

Invited families follow the score live, without installing anything. Linked parents additionally see the season's figures for their own child.

There is no link that lets a stranger watch. Everybody who can see a match was invited to a specific email address, by you or by one of your parents, and can be removed again — because what a team's pages give away is not a scoreline but a schedule: where a named child will be, at a known time, on a known pitch.

Parents can bring in their own family — a grandparent, an aunt, a co-parent in another household — from their child's profile. Those invitations let people watch and change nothing, and the parent who sent one can take it back.

The match page shows the match. It does not show your roster, your contact details, or anything about other people's children.

Troubleshooting

The clock is ahead of the referee. Adjust it. Yours is a record, theirs decides the match.

I tapped the wrong player. Undo, then record it again. If the undo window has passed, the event can still be edited.

I started the match by mistake. Reset it back to scheduled.

The voice button does nothing. The phone has not been given microphone permission, or the browser does not support it. The buttons do everything the voice does.

I lost signal at the pitch. Keep recording — actions are queued and sent when signal returns. The spectator page catches up when it does.

This is my second match and I am being asked to pay. Each account gets one match free. See co-managers, and paying for your season.

If this did not answer it, say so — a real person reads these and the article gets fixed.
